Logo Design / Brand Guidelines

Notch Digital was commissioned to develop a new visual identity and full brand guidelines for the Newton‑le‑Willows Neighbourhood Board, part of St Helens Council’s wider neighbourhood programme. The brief called for a logo that felt rooted in place, something that could speak to the town’s rich railway and industrial heritage while presenting a modern, optimistic identity for the community it represents.

The final logo adopts an illustrative silhouette style, drawing inspiration from the landmarks, structures and engineering legacy that have shaped Newton‑le‑Willows. This heritage narrative is supported by a vibrant, purpose‑driven colour palette, with each colour representing one of the Board’s core pillars: Regeneration, Investment, Partnerships, Heritage, Community and Growth. Together, these elements form a tapestry concept, a unifying visual system that reflects how these strands interconnect to support the town’s future.

Alongside the logo, a comprehensive brand guidelines document was produced to ensure consistency across all applications. This includes usage rules, colour specifications, typography, clear‑space guidance, single‑colour variants and examples of best practice across print and digital. The result is a cohesive, recognisable identity that gives the Neighbourhood Board a confident and authentic visual presence.
