Artifex Drinks approached Notch Digital to develop a complete brand identity for their specialist drinks business, supplying premium products to consumers across the UK and exporting directly to the US. The brief centred on creating a modern, distinctive marque that carried a subtle sense of Britishness without leaning into overt patriotism, a balance of heritage cues and contemporary clarity that would resonate across both domestic and international markets.

Our approach began with a deep dive into the brand’s positioning: a premium yet accessible supplier with a focus on quality, reliability, and a curated product range. From this, we explored a series of logo concepts built around the capital A, developing multiple directions including negative‑space bottle forms, geometric monograms, and heritage‑inspired seals. The final marque combines a refined san-serif structure with a quiet nod to British design traditions, delivering a confident identity that feels rooted without being nostalgic.

Alongside the core logo, we produced a suite of packaging concepts to demonstrate how the brand could extend across shipping boxes, labels, and trade materials. These included bold, high‑contrast layouts for wholesale packaging, premium colourways for speciality products, and a set of short, trade‑focused phrases designed to reinforce reliability and care in transit. The packaging direction helped establish a cohesive visual system that supports Artifex’s growing presence in both the UK and US markets.

The result is a flexible, modern identity that elevates the Artifex brand while giving them a distinctive visual language to build on as they expand their product offering and distribution channels.
